Learn hypnosis – The Best Resources to Learn Hypnosis

The use of hypnosis as a therapy is on the rise. Every year, more studies come out showing the effectiveness of hypnotherapy on a whole range of issues. But what is hypnotherapy? How can you use it in your life, to help yourself and others? And, most importantly, where is the best place to learn hypnosis?

What is hypnosis and hypnotherapy?

We’ve all seen people being hypnotised, but you might not know exactly what the state of hypnosis represents.

It’s very simple: hypnosis is simply an altered state of consciousness, where people are in a more suggestive state that leaves them responsive to suggested actions or thoughts.

For the last few decades, the state of being hypnotised has become more and more recognised as a ‘flow state’ that can massively help people change their minds, and themselves.

Because of its capacity to bring about massive change, modern hypnotherapy can be used to help with so many different issues, including: (1)

  • Addiction
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Fears and phobias
  • Habit and behaviour changes
  • Ongoing pain management
  • Weight loss
  • Abundance mindset

With every year, the positive, transformational effects of hypnosis only becomes more recognised, and hypnotherapy is now widely regarded as an effective alternative therapy by medical bodies all across the world.

After all, every action we take originates in our heads, either as a thought, or an emotion.

And if we can learn to control or change these emotions, then we can learn to change our actions. These little changes add up over time, compounding and growing, until suddenly we realise that the things that used to threaten our well being and punish us, day after day, don’t exist any more.

A trained hypnotherapist can use the state of hypnosis to help their clients deal with the problems in their lives, whether that be fears and traumas, things like phobias or generalised anxiety, or overcoming roadblocks and other things that might hold them back.

If you’ve ever helped anyone through a tough time, or if you’re considering a career in therapy, psychology or another similar sphere, then you should seriously consider becoming accredited in hypnosis and hypnotherapy.

Not only that, hypnotherapy can be ridiculously effective. Studies on smokers who are trying to quit found that hypnotherapy alone has a success rate of at least 50%, or 1 in 2, in controlled studies. That is incredible when you consider that the base success rate was 15%, or around 1 in 7! (3)

Other studies showed even higher success numbers. Anywhere up to 95%. By any measure, that’s a ridiculously high success rate! (4)

On top of this, hypnotherapy conducted by a trained professional is almost completely safe for any patient, unless they have severe mental illness. Even then, hypnotherapy is used to treat several chronic and severe mental illnesses.

What do I have to do to learn hypnosis?

There are no special requirements to become a hypnotherapist. You only need to bring a willingness to learn, a desire to help people, and a compassionate, considerate nature.

All professional hypnotherapy courses, for example Rapid Transformational Therapy, are suitable for anyone, whether absolute beginners or healthcare professionals looking for further qualifications or to branch out.

When considering courses, it’s worth considering the specifics.

First off, a good course will start with the functional; a solid basis in psychology and the subconscious, before it moves into the mechanics of hypnosis. Once you’ve learned how and why hypnosis works, your practice will become far easier and more effective.

Second, consider the time constraints and training methods available. Best is physical, in person training, but if that isn’t available, it’s perfectly possible to learn hypnosis online.

Some online courses are delivered via canned written and video material, some allow personalised questions with your instructor, or face to face time. Given the choice, learning face to face is always superior, as tonality, vocal intonation and timing can have a significant effect when it comes to the effectiveness of your hypnosis practice.

Do I need qualifications to be a hypnotherapist?

There are no essential qualifications to become a hypnotherapist, but it’s generally recognised that qualifications from a registered authority like the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), National Hypnotherapy Society or General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC) are something to look out for. (2)

When considering which course is right for you, be certain to look for certification by one or more of these governing bodies.

Not only does it mean that the course is legitimate, which means that what you’re learning is going to be effective and powerful. It also means that when it comes time to put your training into practice, you’ll have the power of these governing bodies behind you.

It’s also important as there are an awful lot of less-than-legitimate schools who offer ‘hypnosis’ courses, that promise for example to teach you the basics in only a weekend. The best way to avoid ineffective, even fraudulent trainers like this is to make sure they’re certified by a legitimate governing body.

How long will it take for me to learn hypnosis?

According to industry standards, a reputable hypnotherapy course should have at least 250 hours of coursework, or 40 hours of face to face workshop training time. (5)

This is supposed to be the average amount of time that it will take for someone to gain a solid basis in the techniques and practices required to practice hypnosis.

Of course, people learn at different speeds, and take to different teaching methods in different ways. That’s why it’s vitally important that you learn hypnosis using the best options available to you.

What’s the best way to learn hypnosis?

As with everything, the best way to learn hypnosis is to learn from the best teacher possible.

In our opinion, the best teacher and the best hypnosis course available right now is Rapid Transformational Therapy, run by acclaimed therapist Marisa Peer.

Marisa Peer

With more than thirty years in the industry, Marisa Peer has seen different methodologies and therapies come and go.

Through it all, she has kept the same attitude. Adopt what works, and discard what doesn’t. But more than that, in every method, every new ‘Big Thing’, there was always a common thread. Something that could be taken, adapted, combined with what was already known, to make it better.

That’s why she created Rapid Transformational Therapy.

Rapid Transformational Therapy

Created after more than 30 years of practice, RTT combines everything that Marisa has learned over the years. This includes hypnosis, cognitive behavioural therapy, psychology and psychotherapy, and neurolinguistic programming.

RTT is designed to be the single most powerful, effective, and efficient method of therapy available to anyone, anywhere.
