-Juice of 1/2 fresh lemon
-2 cups of fresh spinach leaves
-2 cups chopped cucumber
-1 head of celery
-1 bunch of parsley
-1/2 inch of 1tsp of ginger root
-Juice of 1 lime
-1/2 fresh carrot (makes it sweeter)
Place ingredients in a blender or juicer (for a less bitty drink). Add 1/2 pint of spring water, and puree quickly for one minute. This will make two glasses of green vegetable drink.
-Apples contain a high level of antioxidants which have been shown to ward off many ailments such as cardiovascular disease and asthma. Antioxidants assist the body in the fight against free radical damage from bad food choices and other external influences such as pollution, smoking or alcohol. Without the consumption of foods containing antioxidant properties the body would be susceptible to many diseases and illnesses. Therefore, antioxidants are a great immune system booster.
-The most powerful health benefit you will find in apples is a chemical called ‘polyphenol’. Polyphenols have been greatly studied and found to prevent many degenerative diseases such as cancer, osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases, due to their protective properties. Our modern Western diets are relatively low in polyphenols and can be found in many fruits and vegetables and also chocolate (cocoa) and green tea.
-Adding fresh lemon juice to your raw drink will ensure the PH balance in your body is more alkaline than acidic. Lemons also contain a very high content of vitamin C which is another immune booster that will keep colds and flus at bay. Regular consumption of lemon juice will flush out toxins from the skin and give a youthful glow. Lemons are also commonly used to clear acne due to their antibacterial properties.
-Fresh spinach leaves are an absolute powerhouse of vitamins and minerals with over 23 varieties including vitamins A,B2,B6 and K. Spinach has high anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. All of the qualities of spinach make it one of the healthiest foods available to man.
-Cucumbers also contain a variety of minerals including manganese, phosphorus and copper and are a refreshing addition to your raw vegetable drink.
-Celery contains vitamins A,B6,C and K and minerals fibre, calcium and phosphorus. Celery is also an important food to consume in the prevention of many diseases due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
-Parsley has great healing properties and contains vitamins A,C,B1 and K and minerals folate, iron and copper. Much like the other ingredients contained in this raw vegetable drink, parsley also boasts antioxidant properties.
-Ginger is commonly used to treat stomach ailments and discomforts such as nausea and stomach ache due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger is packed with vitamins B2, B6, C and E and minerals manganese, zinc and calcium.
