RECIPE 

-1 cup frozen blueberries

-1 cup greek style bio yoghurt

-2 teaspoons honey

You can optionally add 1 teaspoon of flaxseed oil

Add ice cubes for texture (less for thicker, creamier smoothie)

Directions

Place the blueberries, yoghurt and honey into a blender. Process until smooth. Add the desired amount of ice cubes. Pour into a glass, and enjoy this delicious refreshing drink.

-Choosing a bio yoghurt is greatly beneficial due to the probiotic content of the yoghurt. Probiotics are responsible for balancing out the good and bad bacteria that are contained in the gut. Regular consumption of probiotics can reduce inflammation in the body and prevent many common colds and flus.

-Adding honey into your smoothie will also ensure you receive sufficient levels of good bacteria as honey naturally contains probiotics. Honey uniquely boasts anti-bacterial and anti-honeyfungal properties which will inhibit bacterial growth within the body. For centuries honey has been respected for its powerful health benefits and healing properties.

-Flaxseed oil has a strong fishy taste when consumed alone but you won’t notice a difference in taste when blended into the smoothie in such small quantities (1 teaspoon). Flaxseed oil is an excellent source of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. Each of these fatty acids help protect cell membranes and are anti-inflammatory. Obtaining plant-based omegas are great for vegetarians or vegans who are unable to obtain the same fatty acids from animal sources. Much like blueberries, flaxseed has also been found to support a healthy heart and prevent cardiovascular diseases.
